League One Manager of the Month nominations announced

The nominations for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month award for December have been announced by the EFL.

To begin with it’s two nominations for the two Football League sides from Essex after Colchester United’s John McGreal was nominated for the League Two award yesterday.

An impressive December for Phil Brown (Southend United) means that he becomes nominated for the monthly award. Brown’s side began an incredible run from midway through October that the Shrimpers are still maintain. With seven wins and six draws from their past 13 League games, the seaside town are now entering the midst of the race for a place in the play-offs.

Joining Phil Brown on this month’s shortlist is Keith Hill (Rochdale). The Dale were sat bottom of the League in mid-September, but four wins in the four December games – including a 3-2 win over league-leaders Scunthorpe – mean that Hill’s side  now sit fourth in the table.

Next up is Uwe Rosler (Fleetwood Town). The former Leeds United manager guided Town to an impressive unbeaten run in December which saw them collect eight points from a possible twelve, thus meaning his side moved up into the play-off places with Monday’s 1-0 win at Shrewsbury Town.

Top of the League, one goal conceded, nine goals scored – It would be fair to say that December has been a good month for Chris Wilder (Sheffield United). The United boss led his side to victory in all four league games in December and ultimately guided the Blades to the top of the League where they now sit a comfortable three points clear with a healthy goal difference.

The winner for the December award will be announced on Friday along with the awards for the other respective Leagues.
