Out of form Sky Bet Championship club Bristol City are close to completing the signing of German midfielder Jens Hegeler from Hertha Berlin according to the Bristol Post.
The Robins’ recent collapse is likely to result in much transfer activity at Ashton Gate over the next four weeks and manager Lee Johnson has confirmed that the club are close to adding Hegeler to the squad.
It is hoped that the 28-year-old Cologne born midfield ace could join Bristol City prior to the FA Cup Third Round tie with Fleetwood Town at Ashton Gate on Saturday. At the current time, it is not known how much The Robins are set to pay to secure the player’s services.
Hegeler is a commanding presence in midfield with the player having built a reputation as a battler and a ball winner. It is hoped that the big German will bring some much needed stability to the Bristol City side with The Robins having been beaten far too easily over the past few weeks.
As well as the signing of Hegeler, it is thought that Bristol City boss Johnson is hoping to bring more defensive competition to the club as well as another striker to help reduce the expectancy placed upon on loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham who is currently City’s top scorer.
