Fleetwood Town: Cod Army sign PNE defender on-loan

According to BBC Sport, Sky Bet League One side Fleetwood Town have signed defender Ben Davies on-loan from Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End until the end of the season.

Davies has made just two appearances for the Lancashire based side this season, with both coming in the English Football League Cup ties against Bournemouth and Newcastle.

The versatile defender can play at left-back or central defence and has joined from the Lilywhites until the end of the 2016-17 season.

The young defender graduated from the North End academy and went on to make his PNE debut in 2013 as a 17-year-old in the 2-2 home draw with Coventry.

His excellent performances throughout the season eventually lead to the Lancashire side opting to tie him to Deepdale for one more year.

Davies has had loan spells at York City, Tranmere Rovers, Southport and most recently Newport County since joining Preston in 2013.

The 21-year-old goes straight into Uwe Rösler’s side for the Sky Bet League One fixture at Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.

Fleetwood Town currently sit ninth in the Sky Bet League One table. Whilst The Trawlermen currently sit outside the play-offs, the difference is just the single point as Phil Brown’s Southend United currently occupying the final play-off position.
