Oldham Athletic set to sign Fleetwood Town striker for second time

Oldham Athletic are set to sign Fleetwood Town’s Aaron Holloway on loan for the second time according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 23-year-old striker signed for the Cod Army in the summer but ended up being the causality of manager changes. He was signed by Steven Pressley but he resigned before the season started and the new head coach Uwe Rosler hasn’t used that much as he has only made 10 appearances this season with his two goals coming in the cup competitions against Leeds United and Southport.

Because of his lack of first team action, Rosler is going to let Holloway out on loan for the rest of the season and he could be set to return to Greater Manchester to play for the Latics. Earlier this year when he was contracted to Wycombe Wanderers, he went on loan to Oldham and was a decent success having scored twice in 11 appearances there. It is enough for the Lancashire side to go back in for the forward now that he is back on the market.

When Holloway was at Boundary Park last season, his performances were key in saving the club from relegation and the hope from head coach Steve Robinson is that he can do that again if he was to move back to the club. Oldham will have a tough task to escape from the relegation zone as they are currently bottom of Sky Bet League One and are set to face Port Vale today as they look to get off the foot of the league.
