The Mirror reports that Swansea City could make a move for Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew in this month’s transfer window. The Ghana international will link up with his compatriots for the African Cup of Nations following Villa’s clash with Cardiff City on Monday.
The Swans look all but certain to appoint former Derby County boss Paul Clement as their new manager and could possibly try to make Ayew one of his first signings. The fact he is off to an international tournament during the season does make it a difficult deal to negotiate, but should the winger impress in the competition then many more clubs will show an interest anyway.
The 25-year-old made the move to Villa Park in July 2015 for £8million from Ligue 1 side Lorient. He was one of the better players during their dismal relegation from the Premier League last season, and has found himself in and out of the team under both Roberto Di Matteo and Bruce in this campaign so far.
Jordan’s brother, Andre, also previously played at the Liberty Stadium and became a big hit before he left to join West Ham United. Given the many options Bruce has in attacking areas, he could be willing to let one or two leave, especially if he has identify some suitable replacements to come in the opposite direction.
