Sheffield United leading race to sign Wales international

Sheffield United are leading the race to sign Fulham’s George Williams on loan according to a report from HITC Sport.

Williams is currently on loan at MK Dons, but Fulham are looking to recall the 21-year-old winger and send him on loan to another Sky Bet League One side. It is unknown why the Cottagers would want to do this, but it could be due to the fact that Williams has only made seven starts this season, though he has made another seven appearances from the bench. Despite the fact he hasn’t played as much as some would have expected, it would be a huge blow to the Dons after Wigan decided to recall Ryan Colclough from his loan at the club.

And it seems that Sheffield United will be the team that Williams heads to when he has been recalled by Fulham. The Blades had signed Harry Chapman on loan to be used as either a winger or striker when the time came to it, but he has suffered injuries during his spell at Bramall Lane and are now looking for a new player to fit that role. With Williams having a great reputation, he has already been capped by Wales seven times, it would be a huge coup to bring him to Sheffield United for the rest of the season.

The Blades have already had a great season and are currently on top of League One after getting a late victory over Northampton Town on News Year’s Eve.
