Wigan Athletic have decided to recall Ryan Colclough from his loan at MK Dons as confirmed by the club website.
The 22-year-old forward, who can play as both a striker and as a winger, has been in great form for the Dons this season having scored five times in 12 starts. However this ended up being too good as Wigan decided to activate a recall clause in his contract and bring him back to the DW Stadium, ending his spell at MK Dons.
The Latics, who since Colclough was loaned out to MK have changed their head coach and now have Warren Joyce in charge, are now planning to use the former Crewe Alexandra man in the first team as they aim to get out of the relegation zone. They are currently 23rd in the league and are currently five points off 21st placed Cardiff City. They can close the gap in the next game against Huddersfield Town on the 2nd, which Colclough is eligible for.
After the recall was announced, Joyce said: “Ryan is an exciting young talent and we feel the time is right for him to return to us. We thank MK Dons for the work they have done in helping his development. He has the potential to make a contribution with us this season, hence we have recalled him now in order to integrate back into the squad.”
Colclough will now be looking to add to the one Wigan appearance he has made this season which was back on the opening day.
