Rams ruled out of race for Rhodes

Derby County are not expected to make a move for out of favour Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams have recently be linked with a January transfer window swoop for the 26 year old Oldham born striker however it is now thought that County boss Steve McClaren is not looking to raid his former club to sign the player.

Middlesbrough signed Rhodes for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £9 million from Blackburn Rovers during the same transfer window last season but the striker has failed to live up to expectations at The Riverside Stadium with the player making just 24 appearances for Boro scoring six goals. Rhodes has made just six of those appearances this season and the forward has failed to net a single Premier League goal.

Rhodes started his career with Ipswich Town before joining Huddersfield Town in summer 2009 for just £350,000. The player went on to become a bargain buy for The Terriers, scoring 87 goals in 147 games in all competitions.

After three years at The John Smith’s Stadium, the striker joined Blackburn Rovers in an £8 million deal in 2012 and the goals continued to flow for the striker with Rhodes adding a further 85 strikes to his tally.

The Scotland international is set to be one of the most popular transfer targets in next month’s window however Rhodes is unlikely to make Derby County his next club.
