Nottingham Forest star enters talks with Newcastle United and Watford

Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury has began talks with Watford and Newcastle United over a potential move according to a report from WD Sport.

The 26-year-old midfielder has been a star player for Forest ever since he moved to the club from Arsenal in 2012 and since then he has made 145 appearances and has scored 32 times. Even when Forest have struggled and not been pushing for the play-off places like they have wanted to do, Lansbury has usually been able to put in high calibre performances which have helped make him into a fan favourite.

However because of that form, many teams are interested in Lansbury and can smell a bargain. His contract is set to expire in the summer and if Forest don’t want to risk losing him on a free transfer in a few months time, they will be forced to sell for a cut priced deal during the upcoming January transfer window. And while many teams are said to be interested in signing Lansbury because of this, it seems as if only two clubs have been allowed to begin talks with the midfielder.

According to this report, those two clubs are Watford and Newcastle United. The Magpies are looking to make more big name signings to help secure them promotion from the Sky Bet Championship but the Hornets are looking to leverage their current Premier League status to help them to sign Lansbury. They are not just looking to sign Lansbury for his ability though as his homegrown nature will allow them to name a bigger squad which they were not able to do after August.
