Brentford place £15 million price tag on in-demand striker

Championship outfit Brentford have put a £15 million price tag on striker Scott Hogan ahead of the January transfer window, according to the Mirror.

League rivals Reading and Norwich City have reportedly expressed an interest in signing the forward, who currently sits 3rd in the Championship top scorers chart.

The 24-year-old has scored 13 goals in 22 league appearances this season. Glenn Murray and Dwight Gayle are the only strikers in the second tier to boast a better record so far during this campaign.

Hogan made the switch to Brentford from Rochdale in July 2014, but has only become a regular feature in the first team this year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee the season after joining the London club.

Reading have already shown they are serious regarding their interest in the forward, having tabled a £9 million bid before the January transfer window has even opened.

Despite Hogan’s goals, Brentford currently sit in 14th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, securing 28 points in 22 games, with eight wins and four draws.

Reading are flying high in the table, sitting in 3rd with 40 points, four points clear of Derby County in 7th place. Norwich City are another team aiming for promotion, but poor recent form has seen the Canaries drop to 10th, four points away from Sheffield Wednesday in the final play-off spot.
