Villa set for biggest crowd in over five years

Aston Villa’s improving form under new manager Steve Bruce will see the club record their biggest home attendance in more than five-and-a-half-years in their next fixture at Villa Park according to the Birmingham Mail.

Villa welcome local rivals Burton Albion to Villa Park on Boxing Day as the two clubs meet at the venue for the very first time and Villa fans are backing their side in their numbers ahead of the clash with the match expected to be a sell out.

The Midlands club have not sold out for a fixture at their 42,785 capacity Villa Park home since May 2011 and after a number of disappointments in recent years, fans believe in what new owner Dr Tony Xia and manager Bruce are trying to achieve with the famous old club.

Villa’s good form in recent weeks has seen the club rise to 13th place in the Sky Bet Championship table and a place in the end of season Play Offs is not yet a foregone conclusion. The club have lost just two of their 11 matches under Bruce’s leadership and fans are seemingly pleased with the progress being made under their new boss.

The festive period will provide Villa fans with plenty of entertainment with another huge clash with Leeds United also set to take place at Villa Park just three days after the Burton Albion fixture.
