Hot prospect commits future to Villa

Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis has signed a new two-year deal as announced on their club website.

The 18-year-old was signed just last year from seventh-tier club Biggleswade Town. Impressive performances drew interest from Fulham, Ipswich Town and Norwich City but the goal-getter was signed by Villa after a successful trial.

Davis has shown huge potential this term in his ten Premier League Two appearances for the U23s and has bagged three goals. The youngster was also named in match day squads against Liverpool and Norwich last season.

Director of Football Steve Round was pleased to secure the services of Davis, “He’s young and hungry and we are investing in our youth as we see that as a vital part of growing the football club and taking it back to where it needs to be.”

Keinan Davis said, “I’m delighted to have committed my future.

“I’m loving every minute of my time at this big football club – developing alongside some fantastic coaches.

“I’ve already had a taste of being in and around the first team and that’s where I want to get to again – although I know that only hard work will get me there.”

The impressive Villa academy has produced names such as Andreas Weimann and Jack Grealish in recent years and manager Steve Bruce is keen to continue the development of youth, “Aston Villa has a fantastic tradition of bringing through their own young players and we’ll give the younger players here every opportunity to become the latest in a long line to reach the first team.”
