Nottingham Forest striker could return to Greece

Olympiakos are aiming to lure Nottingham Forest’s Apostolos Vellios back to Greece according to a report from The Sun.

Vellios signed for Forest in the summer for a fee believed to be around £1m from Greek side Iraklis Salonika and has been doing well for the club ever since having scored six goals in 21 appearances. While he hasn’t become a star player like some wanted him to be, he has been a solid player since returning to England and was on the bench for today’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of East Midlands rivals Derby County.

However now the man who has heavily involved in bringing him to Forest is looking to take him back to Greece to play for arguably the biggest club in the country. Evangelos Marinakis tried to takeover Forest in the summer and the Greek Vellios moving to the club was due to this attempted buy out. However that takeover deal would end up collapsing and now Marinakis is looking to sign Vellios for the club he does own, Olympiakos.

However with Vellios being a good squad member for Forest and the £1million they spent on the striker in the summer being a considerable investment for the club, they will be looking to keep the player at the City Ground. But if Olympiakos are willing to pay more than the fee that they paid just a few months ago, they may be willing to sell the striker and reinvest the money they get in the rest of their squad.
