PREVIEW: Wigan prepare for tough trip to Villa

Wigan Athletic face a tough trip to struggling Aston Villa this Saturday, with both sides looking to record wins after losing their previous League fixture.

The Latics sit 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship after winning just twice from their previous six League games, Aston Villa sit in 15th with the Villains have won just five times so far this campaign.

Wigan skipper Steve Warnock has fond memories of his time at Villa Park, a spell which saw the former Liverpool defender make over 80 appearances for the Villains, but is determined to see his current side bounce back from their defeat to Derby County last week.

“On a personal note, Aston Villa is somewhere I enjoyed some good years and I have plenty of good memories, but we are going there to do a job and to come home on the back of a positive result.” he said.
“We were all really frustrated after Derby last week because it was a disappointing goal to concede from a set play and then we weren’t able to convert one of the chances we created in the second half especially when we dominated.”
The Villains will need to be wary of the Latics’ fine away form however should they wish to get a result. The away side come Saturday afternoon are currently enduring one of the best away runs in form in the League, with the League’s second-from-bottom side having felt defeat just once in their past six away League ties.
Wigan boss Warren Joyce will be determined to sneak out of the relegation places with a win over the old Premier League side, as well as extending their away form to six games without facing defeat.
