Leeds United ‘in discussions’ with ex-Real Madrid man

Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United are reportedly in discussions with ex-Real Madrid Head of Strategy Ivan Bravo about a Sporting Director role, according to the Mail Online.

Bravo is currently involved in the Aspire Academy at Qatar, having joined in 2011. Qatar is set to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and it’s believed his role involves helping younger players to develop in time for the competition.

Previous to his roles at the Aspire Academy and Real Madrid, Bravo, according to Aspire Academy’s website, ‘was a strategy consultant in the field of leadership, corporate and executive performance in Chicago and Washington DC with Hewitt. Mr. Bravo started his career working with The Gillette Company and Merrill Lynch in several roles in Finance’

The last Sporting Director at Leeds United was Nicola Salerno, but the role remains unfilled following his departure from the West Yorkshire outfit last summer.

Reports continue to circulate linking Massimo Cellino with a sale of Leeds United, a club he purchased in early 2014. Andrea Radrizzani has been heavily linked with a potential takeover of the Championship club.

The news comes on the same day that Cellino has released a statement to the club’s supporters, stating that he is ‘surprised to read the news regarding the FA’s intentions to ban and fine me’.

On the pitch, The Whites currently sit in 4th place in the Sky Bet Championship following Saturday evening’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Head Coach Garry Monk boasts a 58% win ratio at the club, having made the switch to West Yorkshire in the summer.

Leeds travel to Brighton on Friday night and Monk spoke to the press today ahead of the game:
