Leeds United face competition from Premier League to sign Bolton star

Leeds United are facing competition from the Premier League to sign Bolton Wanderers’ Zach Clough according to a report from The Sun.

Clough came through the Bolton academy and has been impressive since he became a regular for them and was one of the few bright spots of last season as they were relegated from the Sky Bet Championship. Amazingly they managed to keep hold of him for the first part of their campaign in Sky Bet League One, and they have been rewarded for that most recently with a starring turn in the 3-2 FA Cup Second Round win over Sheffield United, but the vultures are now circling as Clough looks likely to leave in the upcoming January transfer window.

One of the teams from the Championship that are chasing his signature is Leeds, who despite already having Chris Wood up front are looking for extra firepower to help them in their bid to get promoted. They aren’t the only Championship side that are looking to get his signature as well with Wolves, Birmingham City and Bristol City all interested in the player.

But despite all of this interest from the Championship, Clough may be set for the big time as the Premier League looks likely to be calling. Everton have a good record of signing players from the EFL and giving them success in the top tier and now they are looking to do the same with Clough after his recent good form. They aren’t the only ones either, as Middlesbrough are also interested in the forward.
