MK Dons unveil Neilson as new boss

SkyBet League One club MK Dons have announced the appointment of Robbie Neilson as their new manager according to BBC Sport.

The 36 year old is arguably one of the brightest young managers in the game and joins The Dons from Scottish Premiership club Hearts who he reinvigorated during his two-and-a-half-years in the managerial hot seat at Tynecastle.

Neilson picked The Jambos up from their relegation to the Scottish Championship in 2014, winning promotion back to the top flight in his first season with the club in spectacular fashion. The Paisley born boss will be remembered for nothing else but progress with the Edinburgh club and he leaves Hearts in second place in the Scottish Premiership table.

Neilson’s new employers MK Dons currently find themselves hovering just above the drop zone in the SkyBet League One table and the Scot’s first job will be to stabilise the side and ensure that a second consecutive relegation does not occur.

Caretaker manager Richie Barker will take charge of MK Dons for their FA Cup Second Round fixture at Charlton Athletic on Saturday with Neilson being officially unveiled as manager in a press conference which is scheduled to be held on Monday afternoon. Neilson will be assisted at Stadium MK by former Scotland striker Stevie Crawford.
