Sheffield United: FA Cup team news vs Bolton

Sheffield United will be without a few key members of their squad as they take on Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.

The Blades will travel to the Macron Stadium without three of their centre-backs in a repeat fixture of the League One opening day in August. Jake Wright, who missed Tuesday’s loss to Walsall with a hamstring injury, will again miss out. Wright has been an important member of the team and played a big role in the heart of United’s defence as they went on a 15-game unbeaten streak in the league.

Fellow centre-back James Wilson will also miss the FA Cup tie with an ankle injury, and was withdrawn from a friendly behind closed doors against Mansfield Town midweek. Wilson has only played nine times for The Blades since arriving from Oldham Athletic in the summer.

However, both Wright and Wilson are expected to be in contention for the following week’s fixture against Swindon Town on December 10th.

Fan-favourite Ethan Ebanks-Landell will miss the trip to Greater Manchester due to his loan contract agreement preventing him to play. The 23-year-old will be another big absence for The Blades. Ebanks-Landell has played in 15 of the 16 league games since arriving on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers on the last day of August.

Everyone else in the squad is fully-fit and at Wilder’s disposal.

Sheffield United play Bolton Wanderers on Sunday at 2pm in the second round of the FA Cup and the fixture is perhaps the biggest clash of the round. Second-placed Bolton are currently two points ahead of The Blades in the league and the Yorkshire men will be hoping to avenge August’s 1-0 loss at the Macron Stadium .
