Gary Rowett wants to continue unbeaten run

Birmingham City head coach Gary Rowett has told the club website that he hopes to continue their unbeaten run at the weekend.

The Blues have been on a fantastic run as of late having gone seven games unbeaten and they are now 4th in the Sky Bet Championship table. And if it could be possible their form may be yet to peak as they have now won two games in a row, with Bristol City and Brentford being beaten in recent weeks.

With Birmingham just a few points off the promotion zone, it’s no surprise to find out Rowett is keen for this unbeaten run to continue when they face Barnsley at the weekend. The Tykes had got off to a great start after they were promoted from Sky Bet League One but recently their form has dipped and they are now 18th in the table though they hope to get back to how they started the season.

Rowett said: “We’ve had four in a row, but I don’t think we’ve had it too many times,”

“It’s so difficult to achieve in this division, but it’s amazing how that little run of wins can really send you four, five or six places up in this division.”

“But conversely you can lose three or four on the spin, which you’re never far away from if you get complacent, which could drop you down, because there are teams below us at the minute that are trying to get into those places.”

“With the run we’ve been on although we haven’t played as well as I’d have liked. And in some ways that’s great because if we can improve again then we can be even more potent.”

“I’m pleased we’re getting points, we’re being tough and hard to play against.”

“Like I’ve said all along our quest is to add some of those other elements to the games to perhaps dominate bigger periods of games by the way we play.”
