Sacked Championship manager says he may return one day

On his Instagram account, former Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga has told Wolves fans states that he may return to the club one day. The 56-year-old Italian was appointed to the job at Molineux in July, only to be dismissed in late October. Nevertheless, he insists he still holds the club in the highest regard in a discussion with a supporter.

The photo shows the former Italian goalkeeper on holiday in Bangkok, just over a month after he was relieved of his duties with the Championship club. Paul Lambert has since been appointed as his replacement, earning a 0-0 draw away to Preston North End in his first game in charge.

The specific comment that Zenga wrote that the fans were always ‘beside me’ and that they treated him ‘like a King’. He even hinted at a possible return one day,

“simple: cause the people’s in Wolverhampton treat me like a king… always the fans beside me.. team with me.. is not because one person decide to change , that my opinion change.. only 3 months but like 3 years .. I don’t know what gonna be my next challenge, but , in any case #wolvesaywe always in my hearth.. than, never say never , I might even return”

Zenga has held numerous managerial roles ever since he ended his playing career. Spells in America, Romania, Italy, Turkey and Serbia are just some of the countries he has coached in. He now awaits his next challenge and it remains to be seen if he’d be interested in returning to English football, or if any chairman would indeed be willing to provide him with that opportunity to do so.
