Norwich chairman Ed Balls speaks out on under fire Alex Neil

Norwich City chairman, and Strictly Come Dancing star, Ed Balls, has told the BBC that the club are fully behind under pressure manager Alex Neil. The Canaries sit sixth in the Championship standings but they’ve lost each of their last four league games, not winning since October 15th.

A poor run of form combined with the fact that Norwich were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season has led to many starting to question Neil’s future at Carrow Road. A poll that was ran in a local newspaper mainly favoured the prospect of Neil being relieved of his duties.

Nevertheless, Balls is adamant that the club are completely behind their manager and back the Scot’s ability to transform their fortunes on the field,

“He knows he’s got the backing of the board.

“We’ve worked with him very closely for a couple of years, we know his quality, we know his integrity and determination and we know he can do it.”

Alongside Balls, Neil was present at the club’s AGM on Wednesday, where he was posed a series of questions. The former politician insists that his manager responded to that extremely well,

“You could see how much he was listening and think hard about the challenges from the room around set plays, the defence, the transfer window.

“He knows we’ve got to do better in the future but at the same time I think he’s somebody we know can do this. The players are with him, we just need to win some games in the next few weeks.”

This weekend, Norwich travel to in-form Derby County as they look to halt their concerning run of form from extending any further. Defeat or even a draw could see their spot in the play-off places at serious risk.
