Blues discuss deal for loan striker

SkyBet Championship promotion hopefuls Birmingham City have reportedly opened talks with Premier League new boys Burnley over a permanent deal for on loan striker Lukas Jutkiewicz according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The 27 year old Southampton born hitman joined The Blues in August on a short term loan deal until January.

The well travelled striker has impressed in a short period of time at St Andrews scoring five goals in just 12 appearances for the club and City manager Gary Rowett would now like to keep the striker on a permanent basis.

It has been reported that Birmingham City have now contacted Burnley to discuss a permanent transfer for the player once the transfer window re-opens. It is believed that The Blues will need to meet a £1 million automatic release clause in Jutkiewicz’s contract to secure the striker’s signature. Burnley are thought to have given The Blues until 31 December 2016 to complete the deal.

Experienced striker Jutkiewicz has represented no less than 10 different clubs during his professional career. The player has spent the last two seasons with Burnley after the striker joined the club from Middlesbrough in summer 2014 in a deal worth up to £2.25 million.

Jutkiewicz spent most of last season out of favour at Turf Moor as Burnley marched to the SkyBet Championship title but the player’s experience could be crucial in Birmingham City’s own ambitions of a Premier League return.
