Bruce wants to be reunited with Uruguayan

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is being strongly linked with a move for Hull City striker Abel Hernández according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 26 year old forward netted 22 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Bruce’s Hull City side last season as the club gained promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt and the new Aston Villa boss is thought to be keen on linking up with the player once again at Villa Park.

Bruce has received permission from Villa owner Dr Tony Xia to improve his squad during the January transfer window and Hernández is certainly a player who would bring plenty of SkyBet Championship promotion experience to the club.

The striker was brought to England by Bruce back in September 2014 when Hernández joined Hull City from Italian club Palermo in a reported £10 million deal. While the player has flourished at SkyBet Championship level, Hernández has struggled in the Premier League scoring four goals in 26 appearances in his first season in the top flight and once in 10 league matches so far in the current campaign.

Aston Villa are unbeaten in five matches under Bruce’s leadership however goals have remained a problem for the club. Villa have averaged a little over a goal a game so far this campaign and goalscoring remains an area to address at Villa Park.
