Carlisle: unbeaten Cumbrians double scoop in monthly awards

Carlisle United boss Keith Curle has been named October’s League Two Manager of the Month and midfielder Jason Kennedy picked up the League Two Player of the Month award.

The Cumbrians entered October in seventh place but, after five wins from five, ended the month in second place and Curle’s team are high in confidence. Kennedy has been vital to Carlisle’s success this season with eight goals and ever-present with 16 appearances.

Five of those goals came in October and Keith Curle stated, “Jason Kennedy is one of the stand out characters. He faced an immediate challenge and the level of his performances has been exceptional.”

A perfect month plus 13 goals in five games, the atmosphere at Brunton Park is building. But manager Curle was quick to play down his personal success.

“It’s a recognition for the whole team, and when we say team we mean the fans and all the staff at the football club, everybody who helps us do our job. They can all take a lot of pride in the awards that have come our way.”

“There is massive pride to be in charge of a team like this. My immediate staff allow me to work as a manager how I want to work and that is massive to me.”

Carlisle now sit just four points behind league leaders Plymouth Argyle and will be high in confidence that they can catch them after a prolific October. In addition to the league, three cup wins mean Carlisle are now on an eight game winning streak and are the team to avoid in League Two. Curle and Kennedy’s awards are recognition of a fine month of success.
