MK Dons fans want Steve Cotterill as next manager

MK Dons want Steve Cotterill as their next head coach according to a poll on this website.

With the Dons needing a new manager following the resignation of Karl Robinson who had a poor start to the season after being relegated from the Sky Bet Championship, we decided to put it you the fans to see who you wanted as his replacement. And overwhelmingly you decided that Cotterill is the man you next want to see in the Dons hot seat.

Cotterill, who received 68.04% of the vote, was most recently at Bristol City and he was superb with them after he got them promoted from Sky Bet League One as the champions. However he couldn’t keep that momentum going was sacked last season with the Robins in the relegation zone.

Way off in 2nd place was Martin Jol, who received 13.4% of the vote, as while he gained a big reputation in England due to his spells as the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, the fact his time at the West London club ended badly and that he hasn’t managed in England since has damaged his reputation on these shores.

In 3rd place it was Paul Mitchell, who after surprisingly being linked to the role has got 8.25% of the vote. His playing days at MK Dons should mean he has a good reputation with the fans, though his lack of management experience will have worked against him in this poll.

Finally in joint last were Steve Evans and Mark Sampson who got 5.15% of the vote each. While both have had success in their fields, the controversy around Evans and the fact Sampson has only managed women’s teams at a senior level put fans off.
