Championship manager reveals his Agatha Christie side

Often people hide dark secrets of a past well forgotten, this being for varying reasons. According to a report on the Daily Mirror website, new Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is one of these.

It seems that manager Bruce also has something of an Agatha Christie side lurking in him, with the Mirror ‘outing’ him as a crime/thriller writer and author of three stories currently on auction site eBay with a Buy it Now price of £250.

Described by the seller as a “cult classic Steve Bruce murder mystery football novel, so bad it’s fantastic,” the novel is one of three that Bruce has admitted to penning under his own name. Alongside ‘Striker’ there are also two other titles named ‘Defender’ and ‘Sweeper’, but speaking to Sky Sports Bruce said that there won’t be any additions to the line-up.

Admitting they were his penmanship, Bruce went on to say: ”

They were 10 or 15 years ago,” Bruce said. “They are genuine! I think my son went out on Radio 5 and he didn’t know anything about it. It was a long, long time ago and there’ll be no more. I assure you! Go and read them and you’ll understand why.”

Putting down his pen has given the Aston Villa manager more time to focus on the footballing side of his career, something that he will need on Saturday. Bruce will be preparing his Villa side for the ‘Second City’ derby when the Villans take on close rivals Birmingham City.
