Wolves facing competition from Inter Milan for manager candidate

Wolves are facing competition from Italian giants Inter Milan in their aim to appoint Marco Silva as head coach according to a report from The Mirror.

While Dougie Freedman remains the favourite to take the Wolves head coach job following the sacking of Walter Zenga, Silva has been linked with the role. The Portuguese man has had great success in the few years he has been a manager and has guiding Sporting Lisbon to the Taca de Portugal and Olympiakos to the Greek title. However he is currently unemployed after quitting the Olympiakos job due to personal reasons.

And while Wolves have shortlisted Silva due to his success on the continent, they could be set to face intense competition from one of Europe’s biggest clubs should they continue their pursuit in him. Inter Milan have only won four times this season and this has led to their current head coach Frank de Boer being under a lot of pressure and could be sacked in the coming weeks. If they do decide to sack de Boer, Inter are considering appointing Silva as they are also impressed with what he has been able to do in his few years as a manager.

While Freedman, who is best known for his spells as manager of Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest, is the current favourite to get the job, other people are also linked to the role. Former England manager Sam Allardyce is also reportedly in the mix while another former Olympiakos boss Vitor Pereira could also be set to take the job.
