Jaap Stam focuses on importance of Nottingham Forest match

Reading head coach Jaap Stam has told the club website that the upcoming match against Nottingham Forest is very important.

The Royals are coming off the back of a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the EFL Cup and despite that loss, Stam was very happy with the performance his team put in though in this press conference he bemoaned how it has led to him having less preparation time for Saturday’s game against Forest.

But despite that, Stam has insisted all of his team are ready for a game he believes is very important. While Reading did win their last league game, a 1-0 victory over bottom of the table Rotherham United, they went four games without a win and that has seen them drop to 8th in the Sky Bet Championship table though they can return to the play-off places with a win over Nottingham Forest this weekend.

And that’s why Stam is looking forward to this game, he said: “The game on Saturday against Forest is a very important game,”

“It’s a very big game so we’re going to try to get a good result at home.”

“In the Championship there are lots of games to be played and also in the cups as well. While the other teams in the league have been able to have their rest and prepare for the game we have been working hard to try and get a result in the cup.”

“We want to work on our shape,”

“We want to try and improve as a team and achieve what we want to achieve so we can keep doing well in the league.”
