Les Ferdinand asks for patience as QPR target promotion

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand has told BBC Sport that everyone in and around the club must be patient as they try to get promoted.

After a disappointing return to the Sky Bet Championship last year where they never looked like challenging for promotion, there was some hope this year especially after some early season form saw them place in the play-off places. However recently they have undergone a poor run of form which has seen them only win two times in nine games, meaning they have dropped to 12th in the Championship.

With this recent run of poor form and the allegations made against Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink by the Daily Telegraph earlier in the month, some fans are wanting a change in manager much like they got at this time last year when Chris Ramsey was sacked. However Ferdinand has rebuffed that and has asked everyone to have some patience as they plot their route back to the Premier League.

He said: “We know what we are trying to achieve and where we are trying to go,”

“We are in a society where everybody wants everything overnight. Sometimes that doesn’t happen.”

“We started the season well and everyone was optimistic and enthused by that, but unfortunately there has been a downturn in performances,”

“If you are going to gain stability or continuity at your club, you need a bit of patience.

“I know that is difficult for supporters at times but it is vitally important we keep a level head about it all.”
