Who should be the next Wolves manager?

So just a few months after sacking a manager and replacing him with a relative unknown, Wolves are once again looking for a new boss after that didn’t work out.

Wolves were most likely hoping to emulate Sheffield Wednesday when they appointed Walter Zenga as the Owls had success by appointing Carlos Carvalhal, who in the summer of 2015 was also a complete unknown on these shores. But while Wolves haven’t been terrible this season, the board weren’t happy with being 18th in the Sky Bet Championship considering the money they put in this summer so decided to sack Zenga.

Now though they are looking for a new boss but who should it be? Well you can have your say by answering our poll, after we give you some brief summaries of the men linked to the role.

Dougie Freedman

Freedman has recently become the surprise favourite for the job and that may be because of his experience of the Championship. He has managed Crystal Palace, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest though apart from his spell with the Eagles, he has rarely impressed and is yet to pick up a major achievement as a manager.

Sam Allardyce

His reputation may be in tatters after the allegations made against him by the Daily Telegraph, but Allardyce still has a very enviable CV which will make him appealing. He’s managed several Premier League clubs and saved them from relegation, most recently Sunderland, though Wolves will most likely like how he got West Ham United promoted through the play-offs in 2012.

Vitor Pereira

It would be no surprise to see Wolves go for another foreign manager, and Periera is currently the most likely man to come from abroad and take the Wolves hot seat. He is vastly experienced with the biggest clubs in Europe having managed Porto, Olympiakos and Fenerbahce. He won plenty with them too having claimed the titles of the Portuguese and Greek leagues.

Marco Silva

Silva does have less experience than his compatriot Periera, but he has also managed some big clubs. After his initial spell with Estoril, he went on to manage both Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos and won silverware with both of them. However don’t expect him to get in line, he was sacking at Sporting because he didn’t wear the official club suit.

Steve Cotterill

Coterill is a fine manager when in the lower parts of the EFL as he has a string of successes in that league having had an impressive spell with Notts County and getting Bristol City promoted with a stunning points tally. However his form when managing Championship clubs may be questioned as when the Robins were in the Championship, they underperformed until he was sacked and replaced.
