Rovers loanee set for the top says Coyle

Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle has praised the impact of on loan Southampton striker Sam Gallagher after the striker netted both goals in a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The 21 year old Crediton born forward has bagged five goals in 14 appearances for Rovers since joining the club on a season long loan deal from parent club Southampton in August.

Rovers’ midweek victory over Forest saw the SkyBet Championship strugglers climb out of the relegation zone and after watching youngster Gallagher bag a brace manager Coyle admitted that the player has an opportunity to play at the very top level with plenty of hard work in the early days of his footballing career.

After graduating from the famed Southampton academy set up, the player has already gone on to make 20 senior appearances for The Saints and has netted two goals including one in a Premier League fixture against Norwich City back in March 2014.

Last season, the youngster spent the first half of the campaign on loan at MK Dons where he failed to score in 15 appearances in all competitions but the England Under 20s striker is showing some of his best form in his time at Ewood Park and a regular place in the starting line up at parent club Southampton in the near future is not a foregone conclusion.
