Norwich City winger subject of interest from Sunderland

Sunderland have stated their interest in Norwich City’s Robbie Brady according to a report from the Telegraph.

Plenty of teams were interested in Brady following Norwich’s relegation from the Premier League and that interest only exploded after he became one of the stars for the Republic of Ireland during their Euro 2016 campaign. However in the summer the Canaries were able to put off any of the team interested, which included Leicester City and West Ham United, by slapping a high price tag on him.

However as the January transfer window approaches, the interest in Brady starts to rise again and this report suggests that Sunderland are one of the teams hoping to sign him in the New Year. The Black Cats have really struggled this season and they are currently bottom of the Premier League without a win and are looking to sign some players that will give them some extra spark. And as well as being interested in his compatriot Shane Long, Sunderland are also looking to sign Brady.

However their main issue in signing Brady is the same issue that stopped teams from signing Brady this summer, money. Sunderland aren’t likely to get a big transfer budget in January despite their best attempts to persuade chairman Ellis Short to boost their transfer budget and Norwich may look to price them out of the move. Their biggest task will be to show Brady that he has more of chance of playing Premier League football with Norwich next season than he is if he signs for Sunderland as the Irishman reportedly wants to return to the top tier as soon as possible.
