Birmingham City fans have been offering their opinion on the recent plans laid out by the new owners of their club, on Twitter.
The Blues were finally taken over, yesterday, by the Chinese consortium: Trillion Trophy Asia, lead by Paul Suen, following a long period of speculation.
This finally ended the long association with Carson Yeung, who was handed a money laundering conviction in 2014.
Paul Suen, himself, has promised a £12,000,000 overhaul of the squad in January, with the ambitious aim of returning The Blues to the Premier League.
A statement from the consortium, as reported in the Birmingham Mail, was listed in a document earlier today.
“Approximately £12.72 million will be used to satisfy the working capital requirement of BCFC”, it said.
“This will cover wages and to cover the running costs to maintain the stadium and match-day expenses.
This is to be used when considered appropriate, to recruit the right sort of player’s to enhance the competitiveness of the squad. To assist the possibility of promotion to the Premier League in the near future.
It is anticipated that an amount of £12.72 million would allow BCFC to recruit around eight to ten football players for future football seasons.”
A statement was also released on the club’s official website earlier this afternoon, promising a brighter future for Blues supporters. It read:
“Today is a significant day in the history of Birmingham City Football Club. It is the start of a fresh era, one that we hope you, our loyal supporters, join us in embracing. But now, to borrow the motto of this great City of ours, we can move forward. So, today, we begin a new chapter in our proud history – we move #Forward.”
Here is a selection of tweets from Blues fans, following the news of the owner’s plans.
