Peterborough United Vs Northampton Town – Match Preview

A massive local derby is taking place tonight, as Northampton Town travel to Peterborough United for their Sky Bet League One fixture.

It’s a fixture with plenty of history. The most recent meeting between the two sides was in 2009, and finished 1-0 to Peterborough United.

The rivalry between the two is massive, and a crowd of over 10,000 is expected at the ABAX Stadium for the first time in a while.

Although it’s been a long time since these two sides met, they have played each other 56 times. Peterborough United have come out on top 25 times, with Northampton Town winning 17 times, and the remaining 14 games being draws.

The aforementioned recent meeting was won by Peterborough, despite Gabriel Zakuani being sent off for the Posh in the sixth minute. Zakuani will take part in tonight’s game, this time in the Cobblers’ squad.

He’s not the only player who will return to their former club tonight, as Harry Beautyman prepares to line up against Posh for the first time since his departure in the Summer.
