Magpies eye swoop for Serbian youngster

Newcastle United are understood to have scouted Serbian defender Nikola Milenković according to the Chronicle Live.

The 19 year old Belgrade born centre back currently plays his football in the place of his birth with Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade.

The giant defender who is 6ft 4in in height is thought to be wanted by Dutch club Ajax and Belgian outfit Anderlecht and Newcastle United could face a battle to land the player should they decide to submit a transfer bid in January.

Newcastle United are flying high in the SkyBet Championship with three straight victories helping lift the club into second place in the table. Despite The Magpies’ good form, the club have kept just one clean sheet in their last five league outings and defensive resilience remains a concern which may need to be addressed in the upcoming transfer window.

Partizan Belgrade defender Milenković is valued at around £3 million and is tipped for a huge future in the game with the player having already featured for the Serbian national team. The player spent a period on loan at League Belgrade club Teleoptik last season but has returned to the Partizan Stadium to make 12 appearances for Partizan Belgrade so far this season scoring one goal.

Having already brought in a number of young players in the summer, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is happy to put his faith in youth to take the club forward and a move for Milenković cannot be ruled out.
