Talksport Team of the Year features Leeds’ new star and Bristol City’s hotshot striker

Talksport have named their Team of the Year so far and it only includes a few familiar names with Leeds United’s new star Pontus Jansson and Bristol City’s in-form loanee Tammy Abraham being notable inclusions.

Some of the players will be familiar to Sky Bet Championship fans as they have been playing at a high level in this league for while, including Brighton and Hove Albion’s David Stockdale and Lewis Dunk and Reading’s Chrus Gunter. One time England international Jonjo Shelvey has also made the list after staying with Newcastle United following their relegation from the Premier League. However most of the list are either compromised of players who aren’t that well known in the league or are recent signings.

Most notable is Pontus Jansson, who was a complete unknown when he signed on loan for Leeds United from Torino. However his brilliant performances for the side have quickly made him a fan favourite and the club are now looking to make that deal permanent in January. Also an unknown before this season was Tammy Abraham, who was only highly rated by the youth coaches at Chelsea. However he has become a star while on loan at Bristol City and is currently the highest scorer in the Championship after netting nine times so far this season. Christopher Schindler, who signed for Huddersfield Town from 1860 Munich for a club record fee this summer, has also made the list.

Also worth noting are the players who’ve manager to break out this year. While QPR’s Tjaronn Chery performed well in his debut season last year, he has taken that to another level this year. And after years of misery due to a number of serious injuries, Scott Hogan has been able to score seven goals for Brentford this year.

Also in the Team of the Year So Far are Brihgton’s Anthony Knockaert and Barnsley’s Conor Hourihane,
