Villa defender set to lose four figure investment

Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick is set to lose a four figure sum after a project which he invested in went into administration according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 29 year old Villa captain invested a sum of his money in the Park Regis project, a £48 million plan to develop a Birmingham hotel in Five Ways.

The project was made up of over 150 investors but Park Regis Birmingham LLP have now gone into administration after some investors failed to meet a deadline set for the development meaning that Elphick along with a number of others are left out of pocket.

Several other sportsmen are thought to have invested in the project including former Villa striker Luke Moore, Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave and Czech tennis player Tomáš Berdych. No details have been released regarding the exact sums invested by each party.

Aston Villa defender Elphick was new Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo’s first signing for the club when he joined from  AFC Bournemouth this summer for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £3 million. The player has made 10 appearances for his new club so far this season.

It is understood that the Park Regis Hotel is currently operating as normal.
