New investment on the horizon at Forest

SkyBet Championship club Nottingham Forest could be set for fresh investment with owner Fawaz Al Hasawi confirming that he is talking to potential new investors according to the Nottingham Post.

The Reds have been subject of a takeover bid from the founder and chairman of Capital Maritime & Trading Corp  and Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The Greek multi-millionaire agreed a deal in principle to purchase an 80% share in the Midlands club however the proposed deal has failed to gain Football League approval while Marinakis is thought to be upset by the club’s decision to sell winger Oliver Burke to RB Leipzig.

Current Forest owner Al Hasawi is thought to be interested in bringing new investment to the club to help fuel a push for Premier League football and the Kuwaiti businessman has revealed that he is in early discussions with several potential investors.

It is understood that one consortium originates from the United States but no matter what the future holds at The City Ground, Al Hasawi has insisted that he fully expects to be part of the club’s future and will demand that he retains a share in the club and a place within the club’s hierarchy.

Nottingham Forest have endured a difficult start to the new season with the club having failed to win any of their last five league matches.
