Phil Parkinson to use experience to get Bolton Wanderers out of slump

Bolton Wanderers head coach Phil Parkinson told the Bolton News that he will use his experience to get the team out of this current slump.

At the start of the season it looked like Bolton were going to breeze back to the Sky Bet Championship following their relegation last season after going unbeaten and getting to the top of the Sky Bet League One table.

However in recent weeks Bolton’s honeymoon period seems to have ended and they have undergone a slump in form which has seen them drop to 7th in the table. The slump hit is low point on Tuesday night when they lost 1-0 to Lancashire rivals Rochdale and fans are now worried that they may end up losing touch with the promotion places.

However Parkinson has been through plenty of slumps before and he has said that he will use his experience of going through them in the past to get Bolton out of this one, starting with Saturday’s match against Oxford United.

He said: “We have started brightly for the last few weeks, it’s just at the moment when we miss chances it is affecting us too much,” h

“When James (Henry) had that great opportunity at the far post against Rochdale, you could see when he missed it that the heads dropped. We stopped doing what we had done so well up to that point.”

“Firstly we need to start taking those opportunities but if we miss them at the weekend against Oxford then we’ve got to be tougher and make sure we keep going, keep producing.”
