Urby Emanuelson is not looking for a bigger club

Sheffield Wednesday’s Urby Emanuelson has told Dutch publication Voetbal International that he is happy at his new team and that he’s not looking for a bigger club.

Emanuelson has played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe having competed for the likes of Ajax and AC Milan but found himself a free agent this summer and wasn’t signed during the summer transfer window. However in September after Sheffield Wednesday signed him to provide cover to Daniel Pudil, though he is yet to make an appearance for the Owls despite Pudil being ruled out as he aims to return to full match fitness.

Some have suggested that this is merely a stepping stone for Emanuelson and that he is merely looking to impress while at Wednesday so he can get back to playing for the top clubs in the continent again. However Emanuelson completely disagrees and says he just wants to get the feeling of playing regular football back.

He said: “I will not quickly choose the bigger club or the money. I want to feel like a footballer again. I want to have fun and enjoy. I think I can get this again in Sheffield. It’s okay, believe me,”

And now Emanuelson, who has been capped by the Netherlands 12 times, will hope to move on and finally make his début for Wednesday in the coming weeks, which does seem likely if he reaches full fitness in the coming weeks as Adam Reach is still filling in at left back.
