Forest join race for Grimsby Town hitman

After a piece earlier in the day suggested Championship side Wigan Athletic were planning a £1-million bid for Grimsby Town striker Omar Bogle, reports in the Grimsby Telegraph have suggested that Nottingham Forest are also in the frame for League Two’s top scorer.

The paper reports: “Another club linked with Bogle is Nottingham Forest.

“Scouts from the Midlands giants have watched him on several occasions this season – and Bogle is thought to have made a good impression, with a bid possible in January.”

The former Solihull Moors striker joined the Mariners in June 2015 for an undisclosed fee and fired 19 goals for the club last season, including a brace in the Vanarama Promotion Final against Forest Green Rovers at Wembley Stadium in May.

Bogle has started the League Two season in fine form and has eight goals from his nine league appearances already, including the winner for the Mariners in their trip to Mansfield Town last Saturday.

Other internet rumours have linked both Cardiff City and League One side Sheffield United with a move for the 23-year-old, who began his career at West Bromwich Albion and has taken in stints at Birmingham City and Celtic.
