Wigan Athletic to make £1m move for Grimsby Town striker

Wigan Athletic are set to make a £1m bid for Grimsby Town’s Omar Bogle according to a report from The Sun via HITC Sport.

The 24-year-old striker joined the Mariners in the summer of 2015 and his goals helped fire the club back into the Football League after years of failed attempts. And the step up to Sky Bet League Two has not been an issue for him as he has continued to score plenty of goals in the bottom tier of the Football League and so far he has scored eight goals in 11 games. This includes a starring performance against Stevenage when he scored a hat trick.

And while Wigan have struggled to score since their promotion to the Sky Bet Championship, they are looking for some extra firepower and the form of Bogle has attracted their attention. And according to this report, the Lancashire based club are now set to make a £1m bid for the forward to give him a chance to step up even further and play for the former Premier League side.

But Wigan may not be the only ones looking at a potential bid for Bogle as this report also suggests that a number of unnamed clubs have also been scouting the forward and may look to match any bid that Wigan are willing to make.

Wigan will need all the signings they can get after a poor start to the season. Following their 1-0 loss to Preston North End, they currently sit at the very bottom of the Championship.
