Nigel Clough praises Brighton as one of the best in Championship

Burton Albion head coach Nigel Clough has told the club website that Brighton and Hove Albion are one of the best teams in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Brewers have had a surprisingly good start to the season which has shown their rivals that they will not be relegation fodder that many expected them to be. This good start has seen them beat promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County and now they are about to face another team that will want to be at the top of the table at the end of the season.

Brighton just missed out on getting promoted last season after finishing in 3rd place and then losing in the play-offs but are looking good this season and were even able to stop Huddersfield Town’s unbeaten start to the season earlier in the week, though they did get help from a Danny Ward howler.

And one man who respects them a lot is Clough, whose dad Brian once managed Brighton, as he believes that the Seagulls are one of the best teams in the Championship.

In the pre-match press conference, Clough said: “They’re a good club with a good structure, they invest wisely. I think they’re one of the best teams in the Championship.”

“He’s (Chris Hughton) done a brilliant job, he’s done a good job everywhere he’s been.”

“I think he’s been a bit unlucky, especially during his time at Newcastle. They were bottom six when he took over and now they’re serious promotion contenders.”
