Jack Hunt lavishes praise on Carvalhal after upturn in form

Sheffield Wednesday’s Jack Hunt has told the Sheffield Star that his upturn his form is down to head coach Carlos Carvalhal.

Hunt started the season poorly and put in some poor performances in the matches against Burton Albion and Leeds United, heavily contributing to their losses in those matches and the poor start to the season for the team as a whole. He was then dropped for the matches against Brentford and Wigan Athletic with Liam Palmer taking his spot in the team and it seemed like the former Huddersfield Town man was set to be relegated to the reserves.

However Hunt returned to the first team for Tuesday night’s match against Bristol City and while people’s attention was mostly turned to the great comeback that Wednesday were able to do to get the win, Hunt was able to put a very impressive performance and possibly put himself back into the first team for the next few games.

And Hunt has said that upturn in form is down to a talk he had with his boss Carlos Carvalhal following the loss to Leeds United.

In the pre-match press conference for the game against Birmingham City, Hunt said: “The manager has been brilliant with me. Carlos spoke to me after the Leeds game and he thought that my confidence looked low and I was a little bit negative with the football.”

“I did feel that which is why he left me out but it was nice to put in a good performance against Bristol. I thought defensively and offensively I was solid and hopefully I can kick on now.”
