Rob Page happy to see Northampton Town improve as attacking force

Northampton Town head coach Rob Page has said to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo that he is happy to see his team improving as an attacking force.

In the first few games of the season, Northampton struggled to get on the score sheet and were only able to score three goals in their first five matches back in Sky Bet League One, with one of those goals being an own goal. However there has been a dramatic improvement recently as in their last two games they have scored five times, helping them get big wins over promotion hopefuls such as MK Dons and Walsall.

And Page is very happy to see that his team are improving in an area that could have ended up being a deadly weakness as they look to establish themselves in League One this season. These recent two wins have seen Northampton shoot up in the league and now currently sit in 8th place in the table and a win against Chesterfield on Saturday could see them move into the play offs.

In the pre-match press conference, Page said: “I am seeing a progression in our attacking play week in, week out, and long may that continue,”

“We had to work hard for our three points against Walsall, and what we are doing now is we are playing to our strengths.”

“When you have Alex Revell up top, and you have the experience and quality of Matt Taylor and Dave Buchanan, it speaks volumes about the players and character we have got.”

“We are putting balls in the box and we are committing bodies forward, and that is helping us get the wins at the moment.”
