George Moncur promises more goals for Peterborough

It was the dream full debut on a personal level for George Moncur, who scored twice in his first start in the blue of Peterborough United.

And the attacking midfielder, on loan from Barnsley, has said that will not be the end of his goalscoring for the club.

“That’s what I try and do in every game, I try and get shots off. Fortunately I got two goals. I’m sure if I keep playing I’ll get more goals, but more importantly we need to get some wins,” he said to the Peterborough Telegraph.

It isn’t just about the individual accolades for Moncur, who admitted he left the pitch on Saturday feeling disappointed, despite his two goals.

“I was delighted with the goals, but I was extremely disappointed with the draw,” said the former Colchester United man.

“Attacking, we cause any team problems. I think we are really solid at the back but it’s just about game management towards the end. Once that’s sorted, there will be no stopping us.”

Moncur completed his move to Posh on deadline day and has admitted he’s “loving his football” at the club.

Next up for Posh is a trip to Sheffield United, and Moncur is confident they can take all three points away from Bramall Lane.

“It’s a nice stadium. It’s going to be a good test, but I’m sure if we play anything like we can, we can definitely get three points.”
