Aston Villa

PREVIEW: Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest

Aston Villa face Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon in the first meeting between the two clubs outside of the top flight.

The two clubs last met in a league fixture way back in 1999 when Aston Villa were victorious after beating Forest 2-0 at Villa Park.

Aston Villa could hand debuts to new signings Jonathan Kodjia and Albert Adomah although Australian international Mile Jedinak is struggling with a knock and may have to wait to make his debut in claret and blue. Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo has no other injury problems to contend with as the club look to push up the SkyBet Championship table.

Visitors Nottingham Forest make the short journey south looking to build on recent home victories over Wigan Athletic and Leeds United. The Reds boss Philippe Montanier has attacking problems to deal with after star man Britt Assombalonga was ruled out with a hamstring injury while new signing Nicklas Bendtner is not yet fit to feature.

Nottingham Forest are aiming to end a dismal run against Aston Villa which has seen the club fail to beat their fellow former European Cup champions in their last eight meetings. The Reds have been poor on their travels in the league so far this season, losing both matches while failing to score and they know that they must perform better at Villa Park.
