Shaquille Coulthirst not needed by Posh – Twitter Reacts

Yesterday, It became public that Peterborough United striker Shaquille Coulthirst was told by Grant McCann that he is surplus to requirements at the ABAX Stadium.

Coulthirst had looked sharp in pre-season, and even scored twice in the victory over Leeds United, but he has quickly dropped down the pecking order at the Posh, with young striker Deon Moore becoming Grant McCann’s third choice.

It’s fair to say that fans of Peterborough United have struggled with Coulthirst since he signed at the club, but how would they react to the news that he was unlikely to play for the club again?

We take a look at some of the responses on Twitter:

Peterborough United’s number one fan page on Twitter tweets the news to Posh fans.

Peterborough United fans are not surprised that Coulthirst isn’t in Grant McCann’s plans for the future.

A lot of Posh fans are comparing Coulthirst to Coulibaly. The latter left the club on a free in the Summer.

73% of Peterborough United fans think that Coulthirst will not be at the club at the start of next season.

Posh fans are blaming Graham Westley, who was the manager that signed Coulthirst from Spurs.

Personally, I disagree with the majority of Posh fans. I think Coulthirst is a good striker, who with the correct coaching, could become a very good player at the club. He proved in pre season that he can find the net, and he was always willing to work hard for the team. He had quality, but didn’t show it enough. I remember during last season’s game with Fleetwood Town, he ran near enough the length of the pitch before winning us a penalty. It was glimpses like this that gave me hope, but I guess it’s not to be.
