Nottingham Forest swoop to sign former Arsenal striker

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner. Club chairman and owner Fawaz Al Hasawi confirmed the news on his Twitter account, saying that the former Arsenal forward has signed a two-year contract at the City Ground.

The 28-year-old has been without a club since his departure from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg over the summer. During his time in Germany, he scored nine goals for the club but frequently appeared as a substitute. Prior to this he spent several years at Arsenal, which also included loan moves away at Juventus, Birmingham City and Sunderland.

In total, Bendtner scored over 40 goals during his time at Arsenal, and all of those goals can be seen in the video at the bottom of this page!

This won’t be the first time that ‘Lord Bendtner’ has played his football in the English second tier. In the 2006/07 campaign whilst at Birmingham he did just that, helping Steve Bruce’s side win promotion back into the top flight after finishing as runners-up.

Controversy has certainly followed the colourful character over the course of his career, and the Nottingham Post recently wrote an article which outlined some of the things the Dane has had to say! Perhaps controversy is the wrong word, but lets just say he is more than confident in his own ability! The City Ground faithful will be hoping to see the best of him in the next two years. He will compete with the likes of Britt Assombalonga and Apostolos Vellios for a place in Phillipe Montanier’s starting eleven.
