Norwich City striker’s move to Cardiff City is off

Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty’s move to Cardiff City is off according to a report from Wales Online.

Yesterday it had been reported that Lafferty was very likely to make a move to South Wales after the two parties had entered advanced talks. Norwich had been very keen to get rid of the Northern Ireland international after he failed to break into the first team and while he would be going to a Sky Bet Championship rival, they would have been happy to get him off the wage bill.

But that deal is now off as the 28-year-old forward, who was part of the Northern Ireland squad who got to the last sixteen of an international for the first time since the 1950s this summer at Euro 2016, could be set to move Palermo. He spent a year there back in the 2013/14 season and is well liked by the club and it seems like a return to the island Sicily is far more likely than him heading to the Cardiff City Stadium tonight. There is even a chance he may still be staying at Carrow Road as the Palermo deal seems to be the only one on the table right now.

But this isn’t a huge disappointment for Cardiff as they are now looking at other targets they could potentially sign, with most of their attention going towards Rickie Lambert. The former England international is out of favour at West Bromwich Albion just one year after signing for them and is very close to completing a move to Cardiff.
